Professional development
Professional development is proof of professional commitment to the
public and a sign of one's desire to offer high-quality professional
financial planning services. I am pleased to remind you that in 2018, as
affiliates of the IQPF, you will have free access to the questionnaires
that allow you to earn professional development units (PDUs)
through La Cible. You can earn 15 PDUs in one or more financial
planning areas (SFPA). In addition, we have decided to include an
article granting PDUs in subjects pertaining to compliance with
standards, ethics and business conduct (SC) in one edition of La
Cible per year, so you can accumulate all the SC PDUs you need in
a professional development cycle. As for the integrated personal
financial planning (IPFP) PDUs you need, why not take advantage
of the IQPF congress?
2018 Congress
I want to remind you that this year, our annual event will take place
on Thursday and Friday, September 27 and 28, in La Malbaie. This
is because the federal government is hosting foreign leaders at
the G7 Summit at the Manoir Richelieu in June 2018, at almost the
same time as our original date, and all the accommodations in the
region will be monopolized (they need about 12,000 rooms). The
security measures in place would also have caused major logistical
challenges, so we decided to shift our event to the fall. You have
already received an invitation to register. I hope you will join us! And
if you've already reserved accommodations for June, don't forget to
change or cancel your reservation.
Annual assembly
The annual general assembly will be held on June 19, at the Pointe-
à-Callière museum in Montréal. Participants will be offered a private
tour of the museum for the occasion. All affiliates will receive the
notice of meeting by email. The IQPF Board for 2018-2019 will be
announced at the assembly.
Since this is my second term as chair of the Board, someone else
will take up the torch for the next term. I am stepping down full of
gratitude for this experience. I also want to thank our volunteers,
our mentors, our instructors, our Board members, our CEO Jocelyne
Houle-LeSarge and her team for all the work they have accomplished
and for the support they offered me during my two terms as chair.
I wish my successor an experience as enriching and rewarding as
mine has been.
Enjoy your magazine!
