Brian Wright is a member of Fasken Martineau's Banking & Finance Group and is a
former Chair of the Business Law Section for the fi rm's Ontario Region. His practice
is focused on representing fi nancial institutions in the structuring, documentation and
negotiation of complex lending transactions, both domestic and cross-border, includ-
ing leveraged fi nancings, syndicated credits, secured loans, multi-currency fi nancings,
asset-based lending transactions, project fi nancings, acquisition fi nancings (including
private-equity sponsored), monetization of instalment receivables, receivable purchases,
fi rst lien/second lien fi nancings and other specialized fi nancing transactions in a wide
range of industries. Wright also has extensive experience in representing fi nancial
institutions with respect to debt restructurings and inter-creditor arrangements. He
regularly speaks on lending and secured transactions and is consistently recognized by
the world's leading legal publications. Wright was called to the Ontario Bar in 1980.

Head of Torys' Project Finance Practice Group, co-head of the Secured Lending Group
and chair of the fi rm's fi nance committee. Practices in the area of project fi nance, project
development, energy, infrastructure, mining and secured lending. Acted as lead counsel
to the borrower in the fi nancing of GDF Suez's portfolio of wind and solar projects
across Canada in 2012; the fi nancing of Potentia Solar's portfolio of 95 roo op solar
projects in Ontario; the lenders in the $750-million nuclear facility fi nancing for Borea-
lis Generation Infrastructure Trust; the lenders in the $942-million project fi nancing of
the 850 MW Goreway power project; the borrower in the $650-million project develop-
ment and fi nancing of the 1005 MW Greenfi eld Energy Centre power project; and the
monoline insurers on the fi nancing of the Golden Ears Bridge and Calgary Ring Road.

fi nancial institutions in connection with their commercial and corporate loans to both
public and private borrowers. Also acts for borrowers. Many of these loans are syndi-
cated and are o en cross-border. Practice also includes regulatory advice to fi nancial
institutions, agency work on structured fi nance transactions, as well as general corporate
commercial transactions. Former Adjunct Professor at University of British Columbia,
Faculty of Law from 1996 to 1999, and has been an instructor for the professional legal
