C H A I R ' S M E S S A G E
If our profession is going to survive the upheaval of our times and
the advent of artificial intelligence, it is going to have to modernize.
The status quo is no longer an option. The same is true for the IQPF
and its Board of Directors. That was my leitmotiv when I became
president of the Board, and it still is.
Luckily, the work that the Board has achieved in recent years and the
stimulating plans on the table have persuaded me that there is true
strength in this group when it is united. The common goal of making
the best decisions for the IQPF means putting egos and personal
interests aside for the benefit of our collective interests. I call that
putting our collective intelligence to work. And that's anything BUT
artificial! It plumbs unequalled depths.
Challenging Our Governance
For the Board, modernizing meant adopting rules that let us govern
with agility, in order to advance and maintain our pace. All of this to
stay aligned with the needs of affiliates, stakeholders, future planners
and, above all, with the very best in professional training around the
world.
First, we had to thoroughly understand the roles and responsibilities
of the Board and the office staff. Because if we want to work together
to achieve our strategic plan, every component has to respect that
demarcation.
Then, for the vision to be truly forward-looking, we identified the
competencies that should ideally be found around the table in order
to discuss and debate intelligently. And to ensure that initiative
continues, we adopted an electoral process that identifies and
catalogues the kinds of competencies and expertise that the current
and future directors must have in order to establish a strong Board.
I can already see the vibrancy and depth of the discussions this has
generated.
COUNTING ON OUR
COLLECTIVE INTELLIGENCE
