Lisa Weber

Aboriginal Law
One of the first and few Métis to achieve a
Master of Laws degree, Lisa Weber uses her
knowledge and expertise to improve the
lives of those she works for. She is an adju-
dicator and deputy chief adjudicator under
the Indian Residential Schools Settlement
Agreement, the largest class-action settle-
ment of its kind in Canada. She represent-
ed intervenors LEAF and the Institute for
the Advancement of Aboriginal Women
in the 2017 Alberta Court of Appeal R. v.
Barton decision. She is also involved in rep-
resenting organizations involved in the Na-
tional Inquiry into Missing and Murdered
Indigenous Women and Girls.

As Assistant General Counsel at Deloitte,
George Begic helps guide management on
complex acquisitions, divestitures and ini-
tiatives. He has led the legal negotiations
of no fewer than 14 strategic transactions
over the past two years and is a trusted ad-
visor to Deloitte's leadership team. Begic
has led initiatives on Impact Day for World
University Service of Canada, which spon-
sors refugee students to attend university
in Canada, participates in the Legal Lead-
ers for Diversity mentorship program and
is a mentor for the University of Toronto
Alumni program.
Subrata Bhattacharjee

Subrata Bhattacharjee is National Vice
Chair of BLG's Competition and Foreign
Investment Review Group, focusing on all
aspects of competition/antitrust law, for-
eign investment law and regulatory litiga-
tion, including quasi-criminal and consti-
tutional matters. He has defended clients
in major international and domestic cartel
investigations, cleared major mergers in
virtually all industry sectors, and provided
advice on other contentious and compli-
ance matters under the Canadian Compe-
tition Act. Bhattacharjee sits on the boards
of directors of several profit and non-profit
boards, including Netflix Canada and the
Canada-China Business Council, and is
one of few non-US attorneys appointed to
the Council of the American Bar Associa-
tion's Section of Antitrust Law.

In addition to being Managing Partner of
Stikeman Elliott's Calgary office, Leland
Corbett maintains a busy corporate-com-
mercial practice, frequently acting in pub-
lic and private financing and other capital
markets transactions. He has been senior
counsel in many large and complex corpo-
rate transactions, recently acting for Alta-
Gas in its proposed $8.4-billion cross-bor-
der acquisition of WGL Holdings. Under
Corbett's leadership, the firm has contin-
ued to support several volunteer programs,
and in 2016 the Calgary office was hon-
oured with the Generosity of Spirit Award
in the Corporate Philanthropist category.
Corbett recently began to contribute his
volunteer time to Habitat for Humanity.

As Vice-President and Associate Gen-
eral Counsel, Personal Banking at CIBC,
Elizabeth Fanjoy heads the legal team
that supports marketing and sponsorship,
back-office operations supporting the re-
tail bank, consumer lending, insurance,
deposits, cards, payments and more. Fanjoy
sits on four of the bank's internal boards,
chairs one of them and is the only lawyer
on the executive council. Fanjoy also sits
on the Women's College Hospital Founda-
tion Board of Directors, is Co-chair of the
Women General Counsel Canada confer-
ence and has acted as a mentor through the
Toronto Region Immigrant Employment
Council that pairs skilled new immigrants
with established professionals.
