For nearly ten years now, fall hasn't been a time for apple-picking at
the IQPF, but a time for promotion and raising awareness, because
November brings us Financial Planning Week!
For the 2017 edition of Financial Planning Week, which takes place
November 19 to 25, we have arranged for two ads on the theme of
emotions and money. Money is a very emotional topic, of course!
It is a source of independence, enjoyment and security, but it can
also cause stress, shame, fear, guilt, anger… In short, it affects almost
everyone, and that is what we are counting on! Once again, our
promotional campaign will include a contest, and we are currently
working on interactive educational modules in collaboration with an
F.Pl. and a psychologist. We'll keep you posted!
Professional Development for Board Members
Like every year, the first meeting of the Board of Directors at the
end of September was an opportunity to further the members'
knowledge about governance. Instructor Daniel Lapointe, a well-
known governance expert, offered a workshop on the roles, duties
and responsibilities of directors. Among other things, he explained
how every person's contributions enhance the overall value-added of
the Board and described how to self-evaluate individual contributions.
End of the Professional Development Cycle
While we're on the topic of professional development, I want to remind
you that the professional development cycle ends on November 30.
By then, you must have earned all your professional development
units (PDUs). Human nature being what it is, very few are up-to-date
as I write these lines: only 25%. For the procrastinators among us, the
IQPF will hold several two-day workshops in October and November,
each worth 15 PDUs in IPFP. You can also take courses online: there
are a dozen courses on offer right now in SC-FP and IPFP, in English
