Sam Rickett practices a variety of corporate/commercial civil litigation and has appeared at all levels of court,
including the Supreme Court of Canada. Rickett's extensive capital markets experience includes acting as
counsel for the Special Committee in respect of the elimination of the dual class shares in Magna International
Inc., acting for Hollinger Inc. in respect of claims brought against its former board of directors and acting
for First Quantum Minerals Ltd. in its $5.1-billion offer for Inmet and CP in the proxy battle with Pershing
Square. Rickett supervised and acted as co-counsel in a lawsuit in the High Court of Tanzania in respect of
a claim for US$142 million. He acts as lead counsel in four related ICC arbitrations on behalf of a publicly
listed international mining company. Rickett has also recently acted in respect of cross-border litigation relat-
ing to wireless spectrum in various geographic territories, as well as a major international public technology
company in respect of ADR proceedings with respect to soware licensing and development agreements.
