Closer to home, in June, the Québec ministry of Finance published
its Report on the Application of the Act respecting the distribution
of financial products and services. Interested parties have until
September to submit their comments. We intend to submit our
position on the issues raised in the report.
Let's talk techno
In 2015, adapting to new technologies is a given. We're not quite
driving Back-to-the-Future-style flying cars, but still! People can
make payments with their mobile devices and print three-dimensional
objects – and that's not the half of it. The IQPF won't be doing any
3D printing, but we are nevertheless embracing the era. Right now
we are looking into the possibility of creating a mobile app to help
financial planners. Stay tuned!
New format for the congress
While we're on the topic of technology, I want to talk about the
congress, because this year, for the first time, we held a limited-space
congress, with just 200 participants, but made the training session
available by webcast. Nearly 80 financial planners live-streamed
the training activity. Using the congress app, the participants could
communicate with each other, whether they were on site or taking
part at a distance, and send their questions to the instructors!
Judging by the participants' comments, it was a roaring success.
That said, the next edition of our congress will take place on June
9 and 10, 2016, at the Manoir Richelieu in La Malbaie. Don't miss it!
Acknowledgements
Finally, I want to announce the arrival of three new members on
the Board: Louise Champoux-Paillé, as representative of the public,
Nathalie Chouinard and Daniel Lanteigne. I also want to take a
moment to salute the work of my predecessor, Yves L. Giroux, the
other members of the Board (which, by the way, is once again 50/50
men and women) and the IQPF staff, who give me such unwavering
support and who keep all our projects moving forward! Special
thanks to Francine Beaulieu, who was the representative of the
public for seven years, and Annie Boivin, who sat on the Board for
four years.
Enjoy your magazine!
