6 lacible | Août 2015 C H A I R ' S M E S S A G E For an organization like the IQPF, progress is characterized by continuity because new changes arise from steps taken in the past. It is with this in mind that I begin my second mandate as chair of the Board of Directors. We are forging ahead with our work on behavioural finance. Buoyed by the success of this aspect of the training offered at the 2015 congress, we will focus on it even more. We've already begun, in fact, by making it the topic of the feature articles in La Cible this year. It really is important! Psychology and listening skills play such a huge part in our trade. Behavioural finance is the psychological side of finances, the integration of psychology with economic and financial theories in order to understand how human beings make financial decisions. Financial planners have to guide clients toward the best financial decisions, encourage behaviours that help clients take responsibility and understand the role they have to play to achieve their own financial success. And that's behavioural finance in a nutshell. Understanding our clients better can only consolidate our relationships with them and improve the quality of the services we offer! This is one of the issues that will be central to the 2016-2019 strategic plan we are working on right now. A benchmark in financial planning, in Québec and all across Canada On the national stage, the IQPF distinguished itself by publishing pan-Canadian Projection Assumption Guidelines, in partnership with the FPSC. The IQPF had already been publishing provincial projection assumptions for several years. The fact that these guidelines are now recognized all across Canada and that Canadian stakeholders are using them is a wonderful acknowledgement of our expertise. It makes for good visibility for us, too; even the Globe and Mail published an article about it. We will continue to work with the FPSC for the 2015 Financial Planning Week. This national advertising campaign will run from November 15 to 21 this year. THE BENCHMARK
