ONTARIO TORONTO In Toronto, Peter MacKay, QC, the for- mer minister of justice, defence and for- eign affairs, joined Baker & McKenzie LLP. MacKay advises on matters including government and regulatory enforcement and compliance. He also advises Canadian companies operating worldwide and inter- national companies in Canada. David Palumbo (corporate & secur- ities) was admitted to the partnership of Baker & McKenzie. Stikeman Elliott welcomed Mike Dev- ereux (corporate finance & securities), Patrick Duffy (project development), Samaneh Hosseini (litigation), Meagh- an Obee Tower (corporate) and Kevin Smyth (corporate) to its partnership. Blakes welcomed three new partners: Ra- hat Godil (commercial litigation), David Rosner (competition law) and Elizabeth Sale (regulatory). Two lawyers were named equity partners at McCarthy Tétrault: Daniel Glover and Julie Parla. Both practise litigation. Ben Aberant (labour & employment), Mark Firman (pensions, benefits & executive compensation), Bryn Gray (litigation), Ian Mak (corporate) and Byron Shaw (litiga- tion) were named income partners. Andrae Marrocco was named partner to Dickinson Wright LLP. He is a member of the firm's franchise and distribution and Pascale Dionne now practises business law at Borden Ladner Gervais, where she moved in January from BCF. She is an experienced advisor on both commercial and financial transac- tions. She drafts and negotiates documentation setting up vari- ous types of financing. She also implements security arrange- ments for particular assets, such as telecommunications networks. Her clients are diverse, ranging from healthcare to forestry. She was named a Lexpert Rising Star in 2013. TANIA D'SOUZA-CULORA Gowling WLG Toronto Intellectual Property PASCALE DIONNE Borden Ladner Gervais LLP Montréal Banking and Finance Tania D'Souza-Culora moved her intellectual property practice to Gowling WLG in February. Described as a "highly capable defender of IP rights on the world stage," she advises on a range of trademark, copyright and design matters, including local trademark prosecution, litigation and global anti-counterfeiting pro- grammes. She frequently writes and speaks on strategic brand protection. Prior to joining the firm, D'Souza-Culora practised with Baker & McKenzie in Toronto and London, England. corporate M&A practices. Dentons welcomed Jesse Brodlieb (tax), Heather Di Dio (pensions, benefits & executive compensation), Hartley Leon (business law), Alexandra North (financial institutions) and Christina Porretta (re- search) to its partnership. Norton Rose Fulbright Canada LLP admitted three lawyers to its partnership: Andrea Brewer, Evan Cobb and Michael Lieberman. All practise business law. Christie Gibson is now an associate at Cassels Brock & Blackwell LLP aer mak- ing the move from Dentons. She practises real estate law. QUÉBEC MONTRÉAL In Montréal, Pierre Brossoit and Julie Forest moved their practices to Robinson Sheppard Shapiro LLP, where they are now partners. Brossoit is a veteran litigator with 27 years of experience. Forest has a diverse labour and employment practice. Norton Rose Fulbright Canada wel- comed Demian Barbas (intellectual prop- erty), Catherine Biron (employment & labour) and Horia Bundaru (litigation) to its partnership. McCarthy Tétrault admitted Louis- Nicolas Boulanger (business law) and Isa- belle Vendette (litigation) into its equity partnership. Charles Flicker (real estate) was named income partner.
