Justice Funt was previously with Fraser Milner Casgrain LLP (FMC), where he practised taxation law. Justice Steeves was formerly a sole practitioner advising in administrative law, arbitration and mediation. Jan Fishman launched his own practice, Fishman Lawyers, aer moving on from his 10-year role as in-house counsel for Manulife Financial. Fishman has a broad civil litigation practice and has appeared as counsel in more than 50 reported or in- dexed decisions before all levels of court as well as two administrative tribunals. Ritu Mahil and Ricard Pochkhanawa- la are now senior associates at Lawson Lun- dell LLP. Mahil, previously with the BC Labour Relations Board, is a member of the firm's labour and employment group. Pochkhanawala, previously with Heenan Blaikie LLP, is a member of the research and opinions group. Michael Sinclair joined Harper Grey LLP as an associate in the firm's com- mercial litigation and family law practice groups. He acts in breach of contract, mis- representation and construction disputes as well as family law proceedings. ALBERTA CALGARY In Calgary, Richard Jones and Craig Harkness joined McMillan LLP as part- ners. Jones, a member of the firm's litiga- tion, environmental and regulatory prac- tice groups, focuses on corporate and com- mercial litigation and environmental law. Harkness, who was previously at Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP, practises in the commercial real estate group. Laurie Hnatiuk is now an associate at Davis LLP. She practises litigation, primar- ily in family law, and managed her own private practice for 17 years before joining Davis. She is experienced in a broad range of family law matters. Darren LaRose and Jeremy Barretto joined Osler as associates practising litiga- tion. LaRose was formerly with McLeod Law LLP and Barretto was formerly with Burnet, Duckworth & Palmer LLP. ONTARIO TORONTO, OTTAWA In Toronto, Peter Wilcox joined Belmore Neidrauer LLP as a partner. Wilcox, most recently a partner at Torys LLP, is a senior practitioner of intellectual property litiga- tion. His primary focus is representing brand name pharmaceutical companies in Patented Medicines (Notice of Compli- ance) proceedings and patent-infringement and validity actions. Elana Hahn is now a partner in FMC's securities group aer moving her practice from Morrison & Foerster LLP. She spe- cializes in domestic and international debt offerings, investment management, cross- border transactions as well as capital mar- kets products. Anthony de Fazekas is now a partner at Norton Rose Canada LLP aer mak- ing the move from Miller omson LLP. He is a lawyer and registered patent agent and advises on the formation of IP strate- gies and the development and prosecution of original patent applications. Davit Akman joined Gowling Lafleur Henderson LLP's commercial litigation and competition law / antitrust groups as a partner. Akman, previously with Davies Ward Phillips & Vineberg LLP, practises commercial law, competition law and class action litigation. Kip Daechsel is now National Co- managing Partner of Heenan Blaikie, succeeding Norman Bacal, who held the position for over 15 years. He joins Robert Bonhomme, the firm's other National Co- managing Partner, in the role. Anita Nador and Joseph Conneely are now partners at Gowlings aer moving from McCarthy Tétrault LLP. Nador is a member of the firm's national life-sciences group. Conneely practises intellectual property law with a focus on patent and industrial design prosecution. Nilanka Maldeniya joined Cassels Brock & Blackwell LLP as an associ- ate in the firm's financial services group and corporate and regulatory insurance group. Maldeniya's practice focuses on cor- porate and regulatory matters in the insur- ance industry. Scott Beeser joined Osler as an associ- ate practising with the firm's intellectual property group. Beeser was previously a sole practitioner. Tal Cyngiser is now an associate at Gowlings aer making the move from the legal department of Tim Hortons. He practises corporate and securities law with a focus on corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions and corporate governance. Renai Williams is now an associate at Borden Ladner Gervais LLP (BLG) aer leaving Affleck Greene McMurtry LLP. She practises competition law. In Ottawa, Gregory Kane, QC, joined FMC's communications and public-pol- icy law practice groups as counsel aer leaving Stikeman Elliott LLP. He advises in the domestic and international elec- tronic broadcasting and telecommunica- tions sectors and has appeared before a number of federal and provincial regula- tory agencies. John Lee is now a partner at FMC aer making the move from Research In Mo- tion (RIM). Lee practises with the firm's intellectual property group. He is an ex- perienced pratitioner in trade-mark rights enforcement including court litigation and dispute resolution. Duncan Ault joined BLG as an associ- ate practising commercial litigation.
