EDITORIAL
Leading on Pro Bono
IN THIS MONTH'S ISSUE, we explore the Pro Bono offerings of various Cana-
dian law firms. Pro Bono is of course not new, but it has become more organized.
Organizations such as Pro Bono Law Ontario, Pro Bono Students Canada, and
the Canadian Civil Liberties Association, provide leadership and resources to
lawyers wanting to help their communities and individuals.
ese organizations are worth their weight in gold, truly. Lawyers are faced
with many people needing their services and unable to pay. How to choose, pri-
oritize? ey might not like my characterization, but I suggest these organiza-
tions are in a position to take the macro view, and on that basis, prioritize. is
is not to say that individual lawyers should not ameliorate situations in their re-
spective communities. However, if we are to advance social justice on a larger
scale, we need these organizations to lead us.
