Partner. One of Canada's leading litigators and a frequent lecturer, Peter Osborne has a
broad civil litigation and administrative law practice encompassing commercial disputes,
complex restructuring and insolvency cases, class actions and securities matters, as well as
professional malpractice litigation and disciplinary proceedings. He was counsel to the
Government of Canada in the litigation and related insolvency proceedings around the
issue of tobacco smuggling, which yielded the largest civil settlement in Canadian history.
Osborne also advises boards of directors of public and private companies on cross-border
litigation and insolvency proceedings. He has helped oversee the restructuring of some of
Canada's largest companies.
Leader of Lerners' Commercial Litigation Practice Group. Extensive experience repre-
senting lawyers, accountants and other professionals in the defense of civil claims, includ-
ing administrative and class proceedings. Written and lectured on professional liability
and civil procedure topics.
