Advises clients on all aspects of Canadian competition and foreign investment review
law. Previously acted as Senior Deputy Commissioner of Competition and head of the
Canadian Competition Bureau's Mergers Branch and, before that, as the Special Counsel
to Canada's Commissioner of Competition. Represents parties in signifi cant merger trans-
actions, international and domestic criminal investigations, abuse of dominance and mis-
leading advertising cases. Acted in a number of proceedings before the Competition Tri-
bunal and complex, litigated proceedings before various Canadian courts, including the
Federal Court of Canada, the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, the Ontario Court of
Appeal and the Supreme Court of Canada. Consistently recognized as one of Canada's

dreds of regulatory matters, including cross-border and domestic merger transactions,
criminal cartel cases, and class actions, under the Competition Act. Advises on all aspects of
competition law and foreign investment law. Represents leading corporations from Cana-
da and around the world before governmental bodies, including the Competition Bureau,
Competition Tribunal, Federal and Provincial courts and other regulatory agencies. High-

Peter Glossop has been practicing competition and foreign investment law for over 25
years. His practice focus is advising clients in mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and
strategic alliances. He has extensive experience with multi-jurisdictional transactions, and
with clients in the energy, oil & gas, chemicals, natural resources, entertainment and phar-
maceutical sectors. He also represents respondents in civil cases before the Competition
Tribunal and foreign-controlled investors in obtaining approvals under the Investment
Canada Act. He is active in the competition law section of the Canadian Bar Association,
and was formerly the chair of the Mergers Committee. He is acknowledged as a leading
practitioner by Chambers Global, e Best Lawyers in Canada, International Who's Who of
Competition Lawyers and other professional surveys, and is listed in the Canadian edition
of Who's Who. He was named a BTI Client Service All-Star for 2012 by e BTI Con-
