Mary M. omson is the head of the Advocacy Department in Gowlings' Toronto of-
fi ce and national leader of the fi rm's Product Liability practice. She is one of Canada's
pre-eminent practitioners in the areas of class actions, mass tort litigation, product liabil-
ity, pharma litigation, health law, consent law and privacy issues. omson has more than
30 years of experience representing clients before the courts, public inquiries, profession-
al regulatory bodies and other administrative tribunals. omson routinely acts as Cana-
dian lead and coordinating counsel in class actions and manages complex litigation across
Canada through robust project management. She combines her substantial courtroom
experience with an ability to supervise high-functioning teams providing detailed legal
analysis, delivering solid value and providing dedicated client service. omson works
closely with clients, assisting them in defi ning and implementing the necessary strategic
plan for their litigation.
Practices business litigation with a particular focus on corporate and securities litigation.
