Practices exclusively in the fi eld of securities litigation. Regularly represents investment
dealers, public companies, investment funds, directors and offi cers in a wide range of
matters, including regulatory investigations and proceedings before provincial securities
commissions, all Canadian stock exchanges and self-regulatory organizations. Experienced
in representing bidders and targets in contested mergers and acquisition transactions.
From 1994 to 1996, served as an enforcement counsel at the Ontario Securities
Commission and therea er continued to act for the Commission in a variety of
enforcement matters. Advises foreign regulators on securities regulation and enforcement
matters. Adjunct Professor at the University of Toronto Law School where he co-leads the
Securities Law in the Adversarial Setting course. Recognized by e Best Lawyers in

phasis on matters involving some element of dishonesty or corporate misconduct, includ-
ing white-collar crime, securities fraud, corruption and competition law violations. He has
acted as counsel to boards of directors, audit committees and special committees investi-
gating allegations of serious corporate misconduct. Recognized as a creative and strategic
problem solver. He has also acted as counsel and arbitrator in numerous domestic and in-
ternational arbitrations. He has appeared before all levels of court in Canada and numer-
ous administrative tribunals. Frequent lecturer on a broad range of issues and former part-
time teacher at the University of Toronto, Faculty of Law.
Partner. Signifi cant experience in corporate/commercial and securities litigation, share-
holder remedies, professional negligence and product liability. Has worked on signifi cant
restructuring matters and major securities, competition and product liability class actions
and appeared at all levels of court in Ontario and in the SCC. Has acted for signifi cant
participants in public and private take-over litigation and in matters before the Ontario
