Chair of the Board of Directors of the IQPF
For one thing, by improving our technological competencies, we are
saving time for our clients. Communicating with us virtually must be
pleasant, effective and, above all, secure. This is an opportunity to
demonstrate our human qualities and showcase the values people
look for in financial planners: transparency, integrity, excellence,
diligence and commitment.
Drawing on the Expertise of Our Predecessors
Every year experienced financial planners do not renew their F.Pl. title
with the AMF because their professional situation no longer requires
it. But that does not mean they are no longer competent. Some of
them have even communicated to us their desire to continue to be
useful to our community and to contribute to the advancement of
our profession.
As an educational institution and the alma mater of the financial
planning profession in Québec, their interest thrills us. We believe
we should stay in touch with this pool of experienced professionals
and try to keep them involved in our profession. What should we
suggest to them? A mentoring program? A pro bono consultation
initiative? Involvement in our training activities? We need to consider
all the options.
This exploratory phase is also conducive to a broader examination of
the matter of making our financial planning services accessible to a
wider segment of the public. Could we kill two birds with one stone
here? Is that also a channel to explore? All our graduates, whether or
not they are still practising, are important to us. They are a gold mine
of knowledge, competency and experience we could benefit from.
We welcome your ideas. In the months ahead, we will ask you to
share them with us. If you already have suggestions, don't wait: send
them to us now at info@iqpf.org.
Attracting New Financial Planners: Still a Challenge
Ensuring the future of the financial planning profession has always
been one of our challenges. To achieve it, we have to try new ideas.
Starting this year, financial planning students and financial services
professionals who do not have the F.Pl. title were allowed to take part
in the webcast congress. We hope that by witnessing our in-depth
approach to personal finances, they saw the value of the title and
will be more motivated to become an F.Pl. themselves!
