C H A I R ' S M E S S A G E
On June 9, I was elected chair of the IQPF Board of Directors by my
fellow Board members. I am very pleased and honoured to begin my
first term as chair. This is a role that I take seriously, and I want to start
by thanking them for their confidence. I also want to thank the Board
members who finished their terms this year: Khadija Azizi, Sylvain
Beaudry, François Beauregard, Mélissa Casabon Matteau, Onesta Di
Paola, Sylvain B. Tremblay and Jean Valois. My predecessor, Julie
Raîche, also completed her term as a member of the Board, but she
will continue to serve as past chair.
These departures have made room for new Board members, whom
I want to welcome: Mélanie Beauvais and Sylvain Pelletier, who
were elected, and Emilio Boulianne and Richard Fahey, who will
be on the Board as representatives of the public. They are joining
the ranks of the current Board members: Louise Champoux-Paillé
(public representative), Nathalie Chouinard, Aurèle Courcelles (FP
Canada representative), Bernard Fortin (Vice Chair), Nicole Gauron
(Treasurer), Charles-Antoine Gohier, Jean-Guy Grenier, Jocelyne
Houle-LeSarge (President, CEO and Secretary), Mathieu Huot, Hugo
Lehoux and Julie Tremblay.
I firmly believe that the professional practice of financial planning
must be recognized at its true value, that the future is now and
that artificial intelligence should be put to the service of financial
planners. In this regard, I want to point out that the shift has already
begun. Guided by our 2019-2022 strategic plan, the IQPF will work
to embrace the digital revolution.
I am beginning my new role in an unprecedented situation, and I have
to say how proud I am of the IQPF employees and everything they
have accomplished since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic.
The IQPF has managed to adapt at lightning speed. We held our
first webcast annual general assembly. We have transformed our
in-person professional development activities into virtual classes.
We are one of the only recognized organizations in Canada that
has continued to give entry exams. However, we had to send out
diplomas to the Class of 2019 by mail!
A STRONG START
