Surrogate Rules Committee, an Advisory
Committee established to make recom-
mendations regarding the rules of court
and court forms relating to surrogate (Es-
tate) matters. She is past chair of the Can-
adian Bar Association, Alberta South,
Wills & Trusts section. Romeo A. Rojas
specializes in domestic and international
Commercial Arbitration, and invest-
or-state arbitration. Based in Calgary and
Doha, he acts as counsel in ad hoc domes-
tic and international arbitrations, as well
as arbitrations under various international
and domestic arbitration rules, such as the
UNCITRAL, ICC and LCIA rules. He
also represents sovereign states and multi-
national companies in investor-state dis-
putes under investment treaties.

to its Regina office. Adam Unick main-
tains a general corporate commercial prac-
tice with a focus on corporate governance,
commercial transactions and taxation.
Teague Pushor maintains a broad litiga-

ompson Dorfman Sweatman LLP
(TDS) welcomed associate Miranda Gray-
son to its office in September. She is back
at TDS from the Supreme Court of Can-
ada, having begun her career at TDS as a
summer student in 2014 and articling with
the firm before being called to the Mani-
toba Bar in 2016. Shen then clerked for the
Honourable Justice Russell Brown of the
Supreme Court of Canada for two years.
She practises primarily in the areas of civil
litigation and Labour and Employment law.

Mark Firman has joined Davies Ward
Phillips & Vineberg LLP as a partner
in the firm's Pensions, Employment
& Executive Compensation practice.
Firman served for several years as direc-
tor and legal counsel at Ontario Teach-
ers' Pension Plan and has a deep famili-
arity with public pension funds. His ex-
pertise extends across the full spectrum
of Pensions and Employee Benefits law,
from the structuring and design of pub-
lic and private plans and pension fund
investments to the pensions and benefits
aspects of corporate transactions and re-
organizations. He will join Jessica Bul-
lock in providing strategic counsel and
growing our thought leadership in this
dynamic area.
Amanda C. McLachlan has joined
Bennett Jones LLP as a partner in Toron-
to. Her general litigation practice focuses
on complex Corporate and Commercial
disputes, Employment litigation and class
actions. She has experience in securities
regulatory and enforcement matters, in-
ternal investigations, shareholder disputes,
directors' and officers' liability, professional
negligence, oppression proceedings, claims
relating to post-employment obligations,
including moving for and responding to
injunctions, and class proceedings, as well
as civil fraud litigation including Norwich
orders, Mareva injunctions and enforce-
ment of civil judgments.

Laura Inglis has joined Bennett Jones
LLP's partnership in Edmonton. Inglis has
a Litigation practice dedicated to Labour
and Employment and Health law. With a
focus on managing and mitigating risk, she
advises on workplace policies and protocols,
contracts, privacy, human rights, and Work-
ers' Compensation issues. She works with
clients in a variety of industries, including
construction, manufacturing, energy, edu-
cation, and information technology. In
addition, she advises on Labour and Em-
ployment issues that arise in the course of
commercial Mergers & Acquisitions.
In Calgary, Ted iessen has joined
Gowling WLG's Tax Group as a partner.
iessen's tax practice focuses on trans-
actions involving the resource sector, where
he has represented a number of clients with
upstream- and midstream-related assets
and investments. He regularly advises
Canadian-based multinational groups as
well as domestic and foreign private equity
investors on Canadian tax-related matters,
including the tax aspects of corporate mer-
gers and acquisitions, divestitures, reorgan-
izations and financing transactions.
