A big anniversary is a rite of passage and an opportunity to take stock.
We've come a long way in 30 years! The IQPF was founded to protect
consumers and oversee the competencies of financial planners. That has
always been our guiding principle. In the beginning, we had to create
the financial planning profession by building on the vision of the IQPF's
pioneers. Our first ten years saw the development of a training curriculum
and the creation of teaching materials. Then came our "adolescence": a
period of transition and maturation. The IQPF developed tools for financial
planners and stepped out into the public arena. Today, the IQPF continues
to strengthen its reputation and, above all, the reputation of the F.Pl.
Advice is good, but planning is better!
That was the theme of our spring awareness campaign, which ran from
March 17 to April 14 and which you no doubt saw on Radio-Canada
television. The goal of all our awareness campaigns is to help the general
public understand the benefits of working with a financial planner. After all,
anyone can give advice, but to build a plan for achieving life projects, you
need a professional: an IQPF graduate! Our campaign was also rolled out
on social media, building on our regular promotional content: in February
and March, we ran a Facebook promotion featuring videos with a financial
planner answering a question asked by a subscriber.
The IQPF is funnelling all this energy into spreading the word about financial
planners and financial planning because we know it's worth it. The more
people know about us, the more people will want or demand the services
of a financial planner. It's good for us, and also good for the public, who will
reap better financial health. It's win-win.
2019-2022 strategic plan
In the last edition of La Cible, I mentioned that we had started the 2019-
2022 strategic planning exercise in August 2018 and that it would be
released in April 2019. The process has taken a little longer than we
thought, but our three-year plan will be approved by the Board of Directors
this month. For now, I can tell you that we have some major plans in store.
