ing practice. He focuses on litigation and

Marc Weisman joined Fogler, Rubinoff
LLP as a partner. His practice focuses on
tax law, business law and estate planning.
He also practises in the area of tax dispute
resolution and voluntary disclosures.
Fogler, Rubinoff LLP welcomed Mau-
rice Fleming as a partner. Fleming is an
experienced corporate and commercial
lawyer whose expertise includes commer-
cial banking and insolvency financing of
commercial enterprises, bankruptcy and
restructuring matters.
Anne Sedgwick joined Baker McKen-
zie as counsel. She has more than a decade
of experience in corporate and real estate
transactions. Most recently she served as
Vice President of Operations & Legal for
developer Diamante Development Corp.,
where she advised on projects at varying
stages in the development process.
Bryan Kelling is now counsel at Miller
omson LLP, where he is a member of the
firm's corporate and mergers and acquisi-
tions practice group. He is based in the
Vaughan, Ont. office.
Danny Nunes joined DLA Piper (Can-
ada) LLP as associate counsel. He practises
in the areas of corporate restructuring,
bankruptcy and insolvency.
Maxim Kaploun joined DLA Piper
(Canada) LLP as a litigation associate. He
practises civil litigation with a focus on con-
struction disputes.
Patricia Brooks joined Gilbert's LLP as
an associate focusing on patent, trademark,
copyright and advertising matters.
Global legal network Interlaw an-
nounced the appointment of Nick Tor-
chetti, partner at Aird & Berlis LLP, to its
board of directors.
In London, Ont., Barry Cleaver joined
Miller omson LLP. He has close to 40
years of business law experience acting for
owner-managed businesses.
Curtis Cleaver is now an associate at
Miller omson LLP. He practises general
business law.
In Ottawa, Steven Garland, a Smart
& Biggar senior partner and intellectual
property litigator, was named the firm's
new Managing Partner and Chair of the
Executive Committee. Garland has been a
member of the firm's executive committee
for two years.

In Montréal, Lawrence Witt joined Miller
omson LLP as a partner. An experienced
labour, employment and human rights law
practitioner, he acts in labour and employ-
ment litigation matters before administra-
tive tribunals, arbitration tribunals as well
as first instance and appellate level courts.
John Israel Galambos moved his tax law
practice to Miller omson LLP, where he is
now a partner.
Emmanuel Laurin-Légaré joined De
Grandpré Chait LLP as a partner practising
commercial litigation.
Marjolaine Lessard-Jean, Silvia Ortan
and Philippe Larochelle joined Miller
omson LLP as associates.
Pascal Marchi joined De Grandpré
Chait LLP as an associate practising mu-
nicipal and environmental law.

MOVES
Randall Hofley, a competition
law partner at Blake, Cassels
& Graydon LLP, was appointed to
the role of General Counsel at the
Competition Bureau Legal Services
for a two-year term. He will remain
a partner at the firm but will be
on leave under the Government of
Canada's Interchange Program.
Hofley previously served as Special
Counsel to Commissioner of Com-
petition John Pecman. According to
Canadian Lawyer magazine, Hofley
hopes to make "a contribution to
the enforcement of competition
law" in Canada.

Labour and Employment
Gary Rosen moved to Miller Thom-
son LLP, where he is now a partner
in the firm's labour and employment
practice group. Rosen mainly acts
in discipline, hiring, and restructur-
ing files as well as in traditional
labour law matters such as certifi-
cations and collective bargaining.
He also has extensive experience
in commercial litigation. Past high-
profile cases include acting as lead
counsel to the NHL and the Club
de Hockey Canadien Inc. during the
2005 and 2012 lockouts, and act-
ing on a dispute involving fraudulent
conduct by a minority shareholder.
