Laura Emmett is a partner at Lerners LLP in the Insurance Defence Group. She practices in the areas of
personal injury, accident benefits, property damage, policy interpretation and product liability. In 2015,
Emmett obtained her Canadian Risk Management Certification, which she uses to advise clients on cyber
and privacy liability issues. Since 2016, she has co-authored a yearly textbook, Annotated Statutory Accident
Benefits Schedule – Effective September 1, 2010, which summarizes all pertinent accident benefits cases.
Emmett is the first Vice President of the Canadian Defence Lawyers; Past Chair of the Young Lawyers
Division of the Ontario Bar Association in the Southwest Region and on two steering committees at the
Defence Research Institute. In 2014, she was named as one of the Top 20 Under 40 by Business London
magazine. In 2015, she received the CDL's Richard B. Lindsay Q.C. Exceptional Young Lawyer Award.
Most recently, in 2016, she was named one of Lexpert®'s "Rising Stars: Leading Laywers Under 40."
