In Calgary, Gary Cochrane and Scott
Sangster joined Fasken Martineau Du-
Moulin LLP as partners and members of
the firm's banking and finance group. ey

Cochrane has developed expertise in proj-
ect finance for the oil and gas, construction
and real estate sectors. Sangster has exten-
sive international and domestic experience
acting for all types of lenders.
In Edmonton, DLA Piper (Canada)
LLP welcomed associate counsel Saman-
tha Kernahan. She practises intellectual
property law and corporate/commercial
law. She joins the firm from McLennan
Ross LLP.
Daniella Lyman (corporate) and Mike
Harris (tax) moved to McLennan Ross
LLP as associates.
ONTARIO TORONTO, WATERLOO
In Toronto, Bennett Jones LLP welcomed
Gino Scapillati as its Vice Chair, Strategy
and Innovation. Scapillati previously held a
number of leadership and governance posi-
tions at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC),
where he had been a partner since 1990.
Most recently, he was Vice Chair and
member of the Global Board of the PwC
Network. He has worked with senior ex-
ecutives and corporate directors of some of
Canada's largest companies.
Jay Leon joined Fasken Martineau
DuMoulin LLP as a partner practising cor-
porate and securities law, aer relocating
from Borden Ladner Gervais LLP. Leon
focuses on multi-jurisdictional M&A in
the technology and life sciences sectors. He
also advises universities, hospitals, research
institutions and researchers at various stages
in the commercialization of their discover-
ies. He is a former member of the Ontario
Securities Commission's Securities Advi-
sory Committee.
Tammy Evans moved to Aird & Ber-
lis LLP as a partner in the firm's real estate
practice group. She advises on a range of
matters from project conception to opera-
tional issues. Prior to her law career, she ran
a land-development consulting business.
Wildeboer Dellelce LLP welcomed Katy
Pitch as a partner. She advises on domestic
and corporate income tax law (both private
and public). She joins the firm from Stike-
man Elliott LLP.
Susan Philpott (see above), Simon Ar-
cher and Clio Godkewitsch joined Goldb-
latt Partners LLP as partners practising pen-
sion and benefits law. All were previously
with Koskie Minsky LLP. Archer previously
served as lead researcher for the Ontario
Expert Commission on Pensions. Godke-
witsch has represented individuals, unions,
boards of trustees, and groups of employees
and retirees in various tribunals and at all
levels of the Ontario court.
In Waterloo, Michael Mooney is now
Vice President and General Manager of the
Garden City Group's operations in Canada
following the New York-based firm's expan-
sion and integration with Crawford Class
Action Services.
QUÉBEC MONTRÉAL
In Montréal, Langlois Lawyers, LLP wel-
comed Katherine Loranger to its litigation
and insurance law team. Loranger has wide-
ranging experience in civil and commercial
litigation, particularly in insurance law,
commercial real estate, franchising, profes-
sional liability and product liability.

Susan Philpott, former head of pen-
sions and benefits at Koskie Min-
sky LLP, joined Goldblatt Partners
LLP as a partner. She represents
unions, employees, retirees and
pension funds from both the private
and public sectors. Her practice
spans Ontario and BC. Important
matters include development of the
National Hockey League players'
pension plan, the Nortel Networks
and Target Canada insolvency
proceedings, and the Air Canada
insolvency and restructuring. She
is a past president of the Canadian
Association of Labour Lawyers.

Stéphanie Lapierre, former co-chair
of the commercial litigation practice
at Fasken Martineau DuMoulin LLP,
joined Stikeman Elliott LLP as a part-
ner. She represents reporting issuers
around internal investigations insti-
tuted in response to whistleblowers,
as well as with those instituted by
the AMF. Lapierre also represents
clients following alleged infractions
to the Securities Act, including insider
trading, tipping, and inadequate
or misleading disclosure of material
information. She is Vice-Chair of
the CBA's Business Law Section's
Commercial Litigation Committee.
