She was most recently with Norton Rose Fulbright Canada LLP (following its merger with Bull, Housser & Tupper LLP). Brayley has advised on all kinds of taxation issues over her 32-year career, including M&A, corporate domestic tax planning, trusts, personal tax and estate planning, and com- pliance issues. She also resolves disputes at the audit and appeal levels within the Cana- da Revenue Agency. Chantal Cattermole, who was most recently with Merrill, Long & Co. in Na- naimo, BC, joined Clark Wilson LLP. She practises family law with a focus on alterna- tive dispute resolution. Clark Wilson LLP welcomed associ- ates Jeff Holowaychuk from McCarthy Tétrault LLP (intellectual property and in- formation technology); Max Portner from LaBarge Weinstein LLP (capital markets, securities, M&A); Carly Tyson from Korn- feld LLP (commercial real estate); and Em- ily Clough from Alexander Holburn Beau- din & Lang LLP (business litigation, estates & trusts). Michael McDonald moved to Clark Wilson where he is now a partner and co-chair of its new Aboriginal business practice (alongside Brock Johnston). He was previ- ously with Dentons Canada LLP. McDonald advises on Aboriginal development projects with a focus on creating wealth for Aboriginal peoples. Clients have included the Attawapiskat First Nation on all aspects of the Victor Diamond Mine negotiation, and the Tahltan Central Council on its negotiations with NovaGold. McDonald is a member of the Peguis First Nation. Prior to joining the firm, he was managing partner of Lando & Company LLP. Braaten advises development com- panies, lending institutions and community groups on real estate development, resort development and finance. He has acted on several mixed-use multi-family developments involving redevel- opment of industrial land. He has also acted on transit-oriented developments including re-develop- ment of existing shopping centres. Widely esteemed corporate partner Doug Bryce was selected as Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP's National Managing Partner and Chief Execu- tive. Upon his appointment, he re- ferred to his new role as "a sacred trust." Among his goals: advancing the use of technology in services such as due diligence and docu- ment review. Bryce is no stranger to high-profile roles, having acted on some of Canada's most signifi- cant M&As, including the recent acquisition of Halogen Software and Corus Entertainment's pur- chase of Shaw Media in 2016.
