John Smith has had very broad business law experience over the last 35 years. He has advised clients in BC's
leading industries, including mining, terminal operations and other infrastructure, forestry, investment
funds and consumer products and services. He has acted on a variety of transactions, including M&A, IPOs,
underwritings and restructurings, including acting for special committees and other fiduciaries, and has
extensive experience with most governance and financing structures, including trusts. He frequently assists
clients with business succession, and regularly advises on complex litigation and arbitrations. Smith advises
the City of Vancouver on infrastructure projects. He is recognized in Chambers Canada for corporate
commercial law and was named lawyer of the year in Vancouver by Best Lawyers in Canada for corporate
commercial and securities law. He received MA and BCL degrees (first class) from Oxford University and
taught law for six years before commencing practice. He served as Lawson Lundell's Managing Partner
