Barry Zalmanowitz is based in the Edmonton office of Dentons Canada LLP. Zalmanowitz is a member of
the firm's National Competition Law Group. His practice focuses on competition and antitrust law, providing
both advisory services and representation in litigation and administrative law hearings. He represents clients in
all aspects of the Competition Act, including mergers and notifiable transactions, cartels, abuse of dominance
and deceptive marketing provisions of the Act. Zalmanowitz also advises clients with respect to compliance
with the Investment Canada Act. Zalmanowitz has extensive experience representing clients in the Energy
and Energy Service industries. Zalmanowitz taught competition law at the University of Alberta law school
for several years. He was a member of the executive committee of the National Competition Law section of
the CBA from 2003–09 and was Section Chair in 2008–09. Zalmanowitz has attended ICN meetings as the
Competition Bureau's non-government advisor. Zalmanowitz was called to the Bar in 1980 and appointed
Queen's Counsel in 2002.

John Adair's broad and extensive experience includes litigating a wide range of matters in the areas of com-
mercial litigation, partnership disputes, professional negligence and administrative disputes. Adair has
appeared before the Supreme Court of Canada on multiple occasions and the Court of Appeal for Ontario
on more than 20 appeals. He has conducted several trials and administrative hearings as lead counsel. Adair
has received peer recognition early in his career. He is regularly invited to speak at conferences and to conduct
advocacy demonstrations. Adair is also the author of numerous articles related to litigation issues such as evi-
dence and expert witnesses, including an article that received the David Stockwood Memorial Prize, awarded
biannually by e Advocates' Journal.

Ed Babin has been practicing complex litigation in Canada for over 25 years. Prior to creating his own
successful boutique firm in 2009, Babin was for many years a senior partner in the highly ranked litigation
departments of two prominent Canadian law firms. Over the course of his career, Babin has gained significant
experience in many areas, both in individual and class-action proceedings. Babin works in a very broad range
of complex legal areas, and has acted for numerous national and international clients in competition, contract,
securities, corporate governance, oppression, investment advisor, executive employment, insolvency, consumer,
franchise, conspiracy and fraud-related matters. Babin has also handled numerous cross-border sports-related
matters, including on behalf of several National Hockey League Clubs and the Canadian Football League,
and on behalf of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) in the Ben Johnson case.
Babin earned his law degree from Osgoode Hall Law School, and his Master of Law degree from the London
School of Economics.
