Joseph Groia is a principal of Groia & Company Professional Corporation. He practices corporate and
securities litigation, acting as counsel in a wide range of civil, quasi-criminal, criminal and administrative cases
including broker claims and defenses, defending Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) prosecutions and
proceedings and representing directors and officers of public companies. Groia received his BA and JD from
the University of Toronto. He was called to the Ontario Bar in 1981. In 1985, he joined the OSC as Associ-
ate General Counsel. From October 1987 until March 1990, he was the OSC's Director of Enforcement.
In 1990, he joined Heenan Blaikie, where he practiced corporate and securities litigation as a partner until
