Luc Béliveau specializes in the area of bankruptcy, insolvency and banking. He regularly counsels clients such

complex financial disputes and in most of the large restructurings in Québec in recent years. Acted on behalf
of important corporations in their recovery under the Companies' Creditors Arrangement Act. Acted for
a group of secured creditors in the restructurings of AbitibiBowater and White Birch, and for the parent
company in the restructuring of Quebecor World. Represented large Québec-based companies in their suc-
cessful recovery under the Companies' Creditors Arrangement Act. Acted on behalf of Le Groupe ADF Inc.,
a major steel structure manufacturer, in the restructuring of its largest debts. Involved in several files regard-
ing injunctions and seizures relating to intellectual property and trade secrets. Frequently pleads before both
trial and appeal courts. Recognized by Who's Who Legal and e Best Lawyers in Canada for insolvency and
financial restructuring. Named a litigation star for insolvency in Canada by Benchmark Canada. Admitted to

David Mann is the Co-chair of the firm's National Insolvency and Restructuring Group. His practice focuses
on insolvency matters, having appeared regularly before Alberta's Bankruptcy Court and Court of Appeal, as
well as having made submissions to the Ontario Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of Canada. Mann
has acted for lenders, debtors, receivers/trustees, creditors/counterparties, DIP financiers, and acquisitors
in a variety of insolvency proceedings. Mann has also had extensive involvement with financial/derivatives
contracts in insolvency proceedings and has significant experience in cross-border insolvencies, including
court-to-court protocols, the UNCITRAL Model Law and various Chapter 11 and 15 proceedings with
international emphasis. He is a member of the IIC and has contributed to a number of articles and seminars
for the CBA, the Legal Education Society of Alberta and others. Admitted to the Alberta Bar in 1990.

Patrice Benoit is a partner in Gowling WLG's Montréal office. Specializing in corporate restructuring, insol-
vency and commercial litigation, he is a member of the Corporate Restructuring National Practice Group.
Benoit represents financial institutions, venture-capital corporations, accounting firms, trustees in bankruptcy,
trade creditors, as well as companies from various industry sectors. He works primarily in all insolvency-related
fields, whether on corporate restructuring and corporate reorganizations under the Bankruptcy and Insolvency
Act or the Companies' Creditors Arrangement Act, on the realization of security or other forms of liquidation of
assets. He regularly appears before the Superior Court of Québec (Civil and Commercial Chambers) and the
Court of Appeal of Québec. Benoit regularly acts in important and complex insolvency matters with many
social, political and economic issues, notably for public and parapublic organizations. He is oen called upon
to speak on banking law and insolvency-related matters.
