EDITORIAL
Change as good as a rest?
CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR LEXPERT RISING STARS: Leading Law-
yers Under 40 Winners (p. 39). ey are drawn from law firm and the in-
house community, and come from across Canada.
is year we have also paid attention to our alumni: where are they now
and what did winning the award mean to them? (p. 37) One alumnus,
Marc-André Blanchard, Canadian Ambassador to the United Nations, was
our event keynote speaker. While not all alumni had as dramatic a career
change as did Ambassador Blanchard, several spoke of winning their Rising
Stars award as an opportunity to ask themselves, what comes next?
Certain alumni thereaer made a career change, while others contin-
ued straight ahead in their legal role but sought out a compelling volunteer
activity on the side. How wonderful to use such positive recognition as a
transition point.
Still other Winners remembered winning their Awards as recognition of
their mentors and colleagues; "it wasn't just me," they said.
ank you, Alumni, for adding lustre to these Awards.
