fect many people in different ways – environmentally,
culturally, job-wise – it can be difficult to determine
which elements in communities you need to achieve
social licence with in order to proceed smoothly with
a project, regardless of the go-aheads given by govern-
ments and regulatory authorities.
Yet, points out Bursey, the whole reason we have gov-
ernment regulatory bodies overseeing resource develop-
ment is so decisions can be made on a scientific basis, il-
luminated by rational arguments on all concerned sides.
