ALBERTA CALGARY In Calgary, Jeff Scobie (see page 18) and Crispin Arthur moved to Lawson Lun- dell LLP, where they practise energy law with a focus on oil & gas. ey are both partners at the firm. Scobie has specific expertise in LNG transactions. Arthur focuses on corporate finance, M&A and corporate reorganizations. MANITOBA WINNIPEG In Winnipeg, ompson Dorfman Sweat- man LLP (TDS Law) Managing Partner Don Douglas was elected to the board of directors of Lex Mundi. TDS Law is a founding member of Lex Mundi, a world- wide network of independent law firms. TDS Law welcomed four lawyers to its partnership. In the firm's Winnipeg office, Scott Hoeppner (labour & employment, litigation), Melissa Malden (corporate and wills & estate) and Terra Welsh (labour & employment, administrative) were admit- ted. In the Portage la Prairie and Gladstone offices, Lucy Kinnear (agricultural real es- tate, wills & estate) was admitted. ONTARIO TORONTO Robert Eberschlag moved his practice to DeMarco Allan LLP where he focuses on corporate, commercial and securities law, with specific expertise in the mining sec- tor. He advises on stock exchange listings through IPOs and reverse takeovers, and has established several natural resources investment funds. Eberschlag was most re- cently a partner at Norton Rose Fulbright Canada LLP. Experienced securities, regulatory and corporate lawyer, Andre Poles, joined Gowling WLG as a partner. Poles was most recently general counsel and chief compli- ance officer at Marquest Asset Management Inc. A long-serving army reservist, he re- tired in 2012 as a regimental major with the 48th Highlanders of Canada. Janice Dubiansky, formerly of Good- mans LLP, joined Robinsons Law as a se- nior associate. She advises on estate plan- ning matters. She assists companies that are regulated by Health Canada – food & beverage, dietary supplements, cos- metics, pharmaceuticals, medical devices – with regulatory matters. She also helps clients navigate the post-market compliance landscape, including reporting, licensing, adver- tising & marketing and compliance with privacy laws, both federal and provincial. She is a member of the New York State Bar as well as the Ontario Bar. SARA ZBOROVSKI Norton Rose Fulbright Canada LLP Toronto Intellectual Property PAUL SCHABAS Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP Toronto Litigation Paul Schabas was elected to lead the Law Society of Upper Canada as its 66 th treasurer, replacing Janet Minor in the role. Schabas has been a bencher since 2007 and chaired several committees including the Human Rights Monitoring Group. Schabas is a senior litigator at Blakes where he acts on complex cases in commercial, tax and regu- latory law, as well as constitutional and media law. He was recently mentioned in "Advancing Women in the Legal Profession" (Lexpert, May 2016 issue) as a mentor and advocate for equality rights.
