Alex MacFarlane is a partner and head of Gowling WLG's Restructuring and Insolvency Group (Toronto).

Derrick Tay leads the firm's corporate restructuring practice. His primary focus is on the restructuring and
reorganization of complex debtor corporations, and he has deep experience in cross-border and multi-jurisdic-
tional transactions, including being debtor's counsel for Nortel Networks Limited and counsel to the Monitor
in the Algoma and the Sino-Forest proceedings. He and his Québec partners are also debtor's counsel in the
proceedings of Montreal, Maine & Atlantic Canada Co., whose trains were involved in the Lac Mégantic
train disaster. He has also written and spoken extensively and has taught courses at several law schools.
