John Rook is a litigation partner at Bennett Jones LLP specializing in commercial,
administrative and competition law. Rook appears in courts throughout Canada in
commercial and administrative law claims, including most recently in Nova Scotia and
Manitoba. He is recognized by Chambers Global as "among the most sought-aer compe-
tition litigators in Canada." He acts for the Commissioner of Competition in mergers
and reviewable practices, as well as numerous clients in the private sector in both civil
and criminal proceedings under the Competition Act. He writes extensively in his areas of

Partner. Matthew Sammon's practice encompasses complex corporate and commer-
cial litigation, professional liability and medical malpractice, and employment matters.
Sammon represents medical professionals and large corporations across a wide range
of sectors, including financial services, banking, telecommunications, retail, regulated
health professions, manufacturing, hospitality, and oil & gas. He also has legal exper-
tise in conducting forensic investigations into the misappropriation of trade secrets, as
well as unfair competition practices by former officers and employees. Sammon appears
regularly in all levels of the Ontario courts, and before administrative and arbitration
tribunals. Sammon appears as defense counsel before the College of Physicians and
Surgeons of Ontario, and the Ontario Health Professions Review and Appeal Board. He
has also appeared as counsel in a number of coroner's inquests. He is a frequent writer and
speaker on various specialized legal topics.
