Edward (Ned) Levitt is a partner at Dickinson Wright LLP, Toronto, Canada. He
served as General Counsel to Canadian Franchise Association from 2000 to 2007 and,
as a member of the Ontario Franchise Sector Working Team, was instrumental in the
creation of Ontario's franchise legislation. Levitt is currently a member of the Inter-
national Committee of the International Franchise Association. Among his many
publications is the leading text, Canadian Franchise Legislation, published by LexisNexis.
Levitt is recognized by his peers, ! e Best Lawyers in Canada, and the International
Who's Who of Business Lawyers as one of Canada's leading franchise law practitioners.
Levitt was the recipient of the Canadian Franchise Association's 1993 and 2007 Special

Geoff Shaw is a partner with signifi cant experience in the resolution of franchise
law disputes through trial, appeal, mediation or arbitration. He has over 40 reported
decisions and is regularly retained to defend franchisors in class actions. Shaw is a frequent
author for industry publications and regularly speaks at international franchise law
seminars. He is an active member of the Canadian Franchise Association (Government
Relations Committee), Ontario Bar Association (Franchise Law Executive Committee
– 2012‒2013), the American Bar Association's Forum on Franchising and the Advocates'
Society. Shaw is in his second term as a member of the International Franchise Associ-
ation's Legal Symposium Task Force. He is also recognized as a leading lawyer by ! e
Canadian Legal Lexpert® Directory, Best Lawyers and Who's Who Legal, and he was
named a "Legal Eagle" by Franchise Times in 2014 and 2015. Shaw recently completed his
LLM in ADR and was called to the Ontario Bar in 1986.

Larry Weinberg is a partner with signifi cant experience in all matters relating to
franchising, licensing and distribution. He is past Chair of the OBA Franchise Law
Section, Vice-chair of the IBA Committee on Franchising, Vice-chair (and sole
Canadian member) of the International Franchise Association's Supplier Forum
Advisory Board, and an active member of the ABA Forum on Franchising as well as
the Canadian Franchise Association (CFA). Weinberg was the fi rst Canadian lawyer to
be appointed Director of the ABA Forum's International Division and to a leadership
role on its Governing Committee. He is co-editor of the ABA Forum on Franchising's
Fundamentals of Franchising ‒ Canada, editor/co-author of the chapter on Canada for
ABA's International Franchise Sales Laws text, and co-author/co-editor of CFA's How
to Franchise Your Business. Weinberg received the 2014 Lexpert® Zenith Award, is recog-
nized as a leading lawyer by Chambers Global, Best Lawyers and Franchise Times and was
Who's Who Legal's worldwide franchise "Lawyer of the Year" in 2014 and 2015. He was
called to the Ontario Bar in 1989.
