The product can be used in a number of possible scenarios including regular daily use in a dark setting, use in the event of a power failure or during a natural disaster. The tape may also help guide personnel to safety in a building full of smoke or another emergency situation where light is minimal, says the manufacturer. The tape will glow brightly once applied and will continue to give off light several hours following the application, remaining lightly visible for a number of hours even in complete darkness. Glow Floor-Mark has a thin and durable profi le design, specifi cally for industrial environments where forklifts may be used. The tape gives off a yellow/green glow when lights are off. www.visualworkplaceinc.com SUPERIOR OPTICS HELMET Lincoln Electric presents its newest darken- ing helmet from the digital Viking series. The Auto Darkening Helmet is top graded with 1/1/1/1 optical clarity. The helmet boasts the largest viewing area and is con- sidered to be the best in its class to date. The sensing technology is greatly improved for this particular model, which makes the helmet less sensitive to sunlight. The headgear is pivot style and has three operating modes: grinding, cutting and welding. Grinding mode is set at four, while cutting mode is between the settings of fi ve and eight. Welding mode is anywhere between nine and 13. The push button display makes this helmet especially convenient, and the product comes with a three-year warranty. A variety of options are available within the Viking series. The helmet is available in black and red. www.lincolnelectric.com clear lens eyeWear Encon Safety Products has introduced the Bones Xtreme I, clear lens eyewear, which features a wrap-around lens design with optical poly- carbonate lens. The nose piece is very soft and fl exible. www.enconsafety.com BacK-of-Head coverage Honeywell has announced a hard hat with 24 per cent more back-of-head coverage than standard Type I hard hats to protect workers from poten- tially catastrophic head injuries due to slips and falls. The patented shell design of the new North Force hard hat provides increased rear-head cover- age without restricting range of motion, while an innovative rear-impact attenuator absorbs force to minimize injuries, says Honeywell. The North Force hard hat is ideally suited for upstream oil workers, miners or workers in other industries in which slippery or icy conditions exist. The North Force hard hat is constructed of a unique, lightweight shell material that offers high-impact resistance and stands up to extreme temperature changes ranging from -30 F to 120 F. Its patented six-point suspension system with fi ve adjustment areas, combined with its robust chin strap, allow for an ultra-customized, comfortable fi t and exceptional retention, according to the manufacturer. An ergonomically designed ratchet allows for quick adjustment, even while wearing gloves. The hat is easily worn with other forms of PPE and accessories, and fi ts comfortably with thermal liners and bulky winter gear. Available in six shell colours — white, yellow, orange, blue, red and green — the North Force hard hat can be customized with logos or safety slogans. North Force meets ANSI and CSA Type I Class E requirements. www.honeywellsafety.com TRAINING safety oBservation systeM S&W Technologies introduces the Site-Wise Guardian Safety Observation System that allows users to capture and report on behaviour, track inspections, perform safety audits and much more. The observation system has many benefi ts including various customizable tracking options to collect data, as well as a tool to train management and staff. Safety conditions of employees, contractors and general workplace safety condi- tions can be observed and potentially tweaked with the use of the observation system. Data can be recorded via the web or with a hand-held device to reduce manual entry. With the data collected, best practices can be implemented through training and other means. The technology allows for end- user customization and can be hosted by either S&W Technologies or installed on the user's network. The tool is helpful with identifying and mitigating risks through training to reduce unwanted incidents — and it helps lower the total number of human injuries and costs associated with them, says the manufacturer. www.swtechnologies.com CUT PROTECTION Electrolab Training Systems has announced the release of a new program by CLMI that deals specifi cally with cut protection. Employers need to make sure workers' hands, arms and other body parts are protected from cuts with the right gear. From a simple scratch to a major laceration requiring surgery, getting cut on the job can happen for many different reasons and the results of those injuries can be life changing. By recognizing hazards, working smart and wearing the right personal protective equipment, employees can work injury-free. This program covers how to protect employees from cuts, including the types of gloves and other protective gear that are available, such as sleeves, which gloves and sleeves to choose for the work your employees do, how to select the right glove size and how to take care of this equipment. This program will help companies ensure workers have cut protection gear that will keep them safe and injury-free. Available in DVD and streaming media formats. www.electrolab.ca HEAD/FACE/EYE
