Over 20 years of experience in IP law specializing in pharmaceutical and biological pat-
ent litigation and strategic advising. Has extensive experience in the procurement, litiga-
tion and resolution of pharmaceutical and biotechnology patent disputes and has ap-
peared as lead counsel in numerous precedent-setting intellectual property cases before the
Ontario, Federal and Supreme courts. Named Best Lawyers' 2013 Toronto Biotechnology

Carol Hitchman is a partner in the Technology and Intellectual Property Group at Gar-
diner Roberts LLP and her practice focuses primarily on intellectual property litigation.
Hitchman has developed a broad range of experience as a litigator and a Patent and Trade-
mark Agent. She has been recognized by Lexpert® as Consistently Recommended for her
Intellectual Property Litigation expertise and in the International Who's Who of Life Sci-
ences 2011. Hitchman has appeared before all levels of the Federal Court and the Ontario
Court, as well as the Supreme Court of Canada. Her practice is primarily in the area of
pharmaceutical patents, but also includes trade-mark and copyright matters. Hitchman
has written numerous papers and given presentations for the Intellectual Property Insti-
tute of Canada (IPIC), e Law Society of Upper Canada and the Canadian Bar Associa-
tion (CBA), including presentations to the Federal Court judges and prothonotaries.
Hitchman is a past President of IPIC. She currently serves as a member of the IPIC Privi-
