He is a Vice-chair of the Eco- nomics and Law Committee of the Canadian Bar Association's National Competition Law Section, and Adjunct Professor at the University of British Columbia Faculty of Law (teaching competition law). Co-chair of the fi rm's Competition and Foreign Investment Review Group. Advises do- mestic/international clients on all aspects of competition law and on foreign investment reviews under the Investment Canada Act. Author of the Annotated Competition Act and Annotated Investment Canada Act, speaks frequently at universities and professional con- ferences in Canada and abroad and is the Chair of the Foreign Investment Review Com- mittee of the CBA's National Competition Law Section. In 2008 named by Global Com- petition Review as one of the world's 40 leading competition lawyers under the age of 40. Beth Riley practices a wide range of corporate and securities law matters in addition to competition and foreign investment matters. She advises in respect of mergers and acquisi- tions, corporate fi nance, corporate governance and continuous disclosure compliance. In her Competition Act and Investment Canada Act practice, she regularly advises both do- mestic and foreign clients engaged in mergers, joint ventures and other forms of strategic alliances in connection with the notifi cation and clearance provisions of the Competition Act and the Investment Canada Act. She also advises clients in connection with conspiracy and other criminal provisions of the Competition Act and potentially anticompetitive busi- ness practices, and in the development of corporate compliance policies and compliance with such policies. She speaks and writes on competition and foreign investment matters for the Canadian Bar Association and American Bar Association. Prior to practicing law, Riley worked as an offi cer in the Mergers Branch of the Competition Bureau assessing mergers under the Competition Act. Barry Zalmanowitz is based in the Edmonton offi ce of Dentons Canada LLP. Zalmanow- itz is a member of the fi rm's National Board and is Co-chair of its National Competition Law Group. His practice focuses on competition and antitrust law, providing both advisory ser- vices and representation in litigation and administrative law hearings. He represents clients in all aspects of the Competition Act, including mergers and notifi able transactions, cartels, abuse of dominance, and deceptive marketing provisions of the Act. Zalmanowitz also ad- vises clients with respect to compliance with the Investment Canada Act. Zalmanowitz has extensive experience representing clients in the Energy and Energy Service industries. Zal- manowitz taught competition law at the University of Alberta law school for several years. He was a member of the executive committee of the National Competition Law section of the CBA from 2003–09 and was Section Chair in 2008–09. Zalmanowitz has attended ICN meetings as the Competition Bureau's non-government advisor. Zalmanowitz was called to the Bar in 1980 and appointed Queen's Counsel in 2002. J.
