The boards, which can hold four, six or 11 sign inserts and are available in four different size options, keep employees and visitors aware of relevant safety information. Called effi cient and cost effec- tive, the sliders are available in 80 stock messages and can also be customized with artwork, unique messaging and language options at no additional charge. They come in either wall- hanging or three-sided, free-standing versions. The boards are made of durable plastic or aluminum material to stand up to the daily rigours of the workplace and can be customized with a company name or logo at the top. www.bradycanada.ca uTiliTy clip CHUMS Safety had added the new Goliath Glove and Utility Clip to its innovative line of safety accessories. Made of durable thermoplastic with high abrasion and heat resistance, the clip has spring-loaded jaws that open to 1-inch and allow 2-inch total depth. It can hold up to 40 pounds securely and has been vigorously tested without loss of function or weight rating. The Goliath clip can accommo- date a wide variety of accessories and is available in green or black. www.chumssafety.com HEARING PROTECTION DeFenDing eARs Westone's DefendEar custom-fi t hearing protection comes in a variety of styles and protection levels. The durable devices come in a wide range of colours to meet unique personal tastes or application requirements, says the manufacturer. The reusable earplugs cut down on disposable earplug environmental waste as they are good for three years, making them cost effective. The full line comes in situation-appropriate and repeatable attenuation. Handcrafted in the United States, they are individually fi tted for maximum comfort. www.westone.com FiRM FiT A welcome advance in classic-style foam earplugs, Howard Leight FirmFit features a softer, more comfort- able fi t and better noise protection than many leading classic-style foam earplugs, says the manufacturer. They offer a fi rmer fi t to allow workers to "feel" the earplugs in their ears, and the design maintains the familiar cylin- drical or barrel shape. They offer effective 30 NRR dB hearing protection, are easy to roll down and insert and exert less pressure on the ear canal than traditional models. The earplugs are bright orange for high visibility and available with or without a cord. The company says the more comfortable the earplug, the longer workers will wear it, and that means more protection for employees and greater compliance for supervisors. www.howardleight.com cHAmeleon eAR plugs Chameleon Ears by E.A.R. are super soft hydrophobic silicone earplugs. They are available with acoustical fi lters which provide excellent protection against high- level impulse noises ranging from 140-190 dB. They are excellent for speech and communication recog- nition and provide adequate protection when used correctly in noisy environments. They are produced in a variety of brilliant solid colours, multi-colour or even made with glit- ter or to glow in the dark. Fitting fl ush to the bowl of the ear, they will not interfere with protective headwear or eyewear such as goggles or face masks. Ear impressions are taken to ensure proper manufacturing and a custom fi t. www.earinc.com CUTTING SAFETY CeRaMiC BlaDe Slice ceramics offers patented pen cutters with ceramic blades. With rounded edges for safety and a thicker blade for ease of handling, the pen cutters reduce injuries when compared to traditional metal blades, says the manufacturer. A single ceramic blade is equivalent to 20 single- edge metal blades and long outlasts both high carbon steel and stainless steel. Made from Zirconium Oxide ZrO2, only diamonds are harder, the manufacturer says. Unlike conventional steel blades that rust quickly and require excessive force — leading to dangerous and uncontrolled cutting which in turn causes acci- dents — the thicker ceramic blade lasts 10 times longer than metal meaning less blade changes, more control over cutting and a safer overall cutting experience. www.DentecSafety.com cuT ResisTAnT TuBe sleeve Made in the United States, Wells Lamont's cut resistant sleeve is composed of a combination of fl ame resistant fi bres and high performance materials, which make it ideal for use where incidental protection against fl ame and spark as well as cutting is needed. The two-ply construction reduces the risk of injury and provides out- standing cut resistance — ANSI Level 3. The test results for cut protection performance are 2.59 lb /1,175 g. While cut resistant, the sleeve is not puncture resistant and care should be taken to avoid high-speed, serrated blades or intentional slashing. Ideal for plastic trimming, metal handling, glass manufacturing and door and window manufacturing. www.wellslamontindustrial.com AngleD cuTTeRs KNIPEX Tools has introduced a new series of angled cutters and pliers. The German-made Orbis tools meet the needs of workers while offering a ver- satile range of application. Designed with comfort and convenience in mind, the innovative 25-degree comfort angle makes the tools a natural extension of the user's hand. The cable cutter (pic- tured above) produces clean cuts on aluminum cables, single and multiple wires, including soft copper up to 2/0 AWG without crushing or deformation. To pro- vide safe operation the angled cable cutter is equipped with a locking mechanism when the tool is not in use. The cutters also come in a variety of sizes, suitable for different jobs. In addition to comfort, this new series allows better sight lines when working in confi ned spaces, providing the user with the ability to see what is being grabbed, pulled and cut, which is critical to getting the job done quickly, accurately and effi ciently, the manufacturer says. www.knipex-tools.com Compiled by Mallory Hendry
