subsequent disposition of their interest in the Voyageur project. Counsel to Apache on
its acquisition of Canadian properties from BP Canada. Advised ConocoPhillips on the
sale of a Syncrude interest to Sinopec and on the formation with EnCana of Canadian
oil sands and US refi ning joint ventures. Counsel to the Hibernia Southern Extension
Project, Hebron Development Project, Terra Nova Development Project, Hibernia
Development Project, Grand Banks Regional Transportation System and East Coast
Transportation System. Advised Shell Canada on the Athabasca Oil Sands Project and
Total on the Surmont Oil Sands Project. Counsel to participants in the Tangguh LNG
Project and the Sakhalin I Project.

Founder of regulatory department. Firm's former vice chairman. Former counsel
to the National Energy Board of Canada. Acts as lead regulatory counsel for ATCO
Gas (Alberta's largest gas LDC) and acted for many major projects, including Alberta
Northeast Gas/Iroquois; Maritimes & Northeast Pipeline; Sable Off shore Energy;
Bear Head LNG; Kitimat LNG; Emera Brunswick Pipeline; and Aboriginal Pipeline
Group (Mackenzie Valley Pipeline Project) and for various gas storage developments
across Canada. Appeared before the Supreme Court of Canada, federal and provincial
appellate and trial divisions, arbitration boards. Testifi ed before Canadian Senate and
House of Commons and retained as an expert witness on commercial and NAFTA
arbitrations. Member of LSA, LSUC, CBA and the US Federal EBA. Called to the Bars
of Ontario (1981) and Alberta (1984). Appointed QC in 2000. Has held directorships
for public and private companies.

Kemm Yates is a partner who practices in the area of energy law at Blake, Cassels &
