Co-chair of the fi rm's Competition and Antitrust Practice Group and widely
acknowledged as one of Canada's leading competition lawyers. Represents clients in
domestic and international conspiracy investigations and prosecutions involving the
Competition Bureau in Canada and other competition authorities around the world.
Also represents clients in substantial civil actions, including leading class actions, by
those claiming damages as a result of anticompetitive conduct. Has acted as counsel for
the Commissioner of Competition and for private-sector clients in leading merger and
abuse of dominance cases before the Competition Tribunal. Has served as Canadian
non-governmental advisor at the International Competition Network of enforcement
agencies Cartel Workshops and Annual Conferences. Serves on the ABA International

David Kent is Co-chair of the fi rm's Dispute Resolution Group and Co-chair of its
Class Action Practice, and a member of its Competition and IP groups. His practice
emphasizes complex litigation, including competition, copyright, commercial and
regulatory disputes. His extensive class-action experience includes over 40 national
cases involving competition, consumer, privacy and securities claims in a wide range of
industries, raising issues including cross-border discovery, settlement and certifi cation.
He has been counsel in many competition cases, including over 25 cartel class actions
(e.g., vitamins, rubber chemicals, cross-border vehicle sales, credit cards, e-books, Gmail
and computer components such as DRAM, SRAM, LCDs and CRTs), as well as private
actions, contested mergers and Competition Bureau investigations. Kent taught ADR
at Osgoode Hall Law School (Toronto) and Queen's University Law School (Kingston)
for nine years. Member, CBA, IPIC and ABA (section on antitrust). LLB (Hons.) and

Rob Kwinter is a partner who practices in the area of competition law at Blake,
Cassels & Graydon LLP. Advises with respect to the Competition Act, including
conspiracy, bid-rigging, trade association activities, mergers and other reviewable trade
practices. Advises with respect to regulatory approval under the Competition Act and
the Investment Canada Act, in respect of major transactions. Litigation counsel in
cases under various provisions of the Competition Act, including extensive experience
in class actions, including DRAM, Air Cargo, Hydrogen Peroxide, EPDM, Chocolate,
LCD and Credit Cards. Successfully represented Visa Canada as lead counsel before
the Competition Tribunal in a contested price maintenance application. Kwinter
participates on various committees of the Canadian Bar Association and the American
Bar Association, and the International Competition Network as a non-governmental
advisor. Member of the American Bar Association's International Task Force and
vice-chair of the Competition Law and Policy Committee of the Canadian Chamber
of Commerce.
