INFRASTRUCTURE FINANCE HAS
BEEN A BRIGHT SPOT IN A CHALLENGING
ECONOMY — BY SANDRA RUBIN
GIVEN THE ECONOMY is still spluttering and recovery is proving elusive, something slightly surprising is happening on the lending front.
Five years after the credit crunch that sent corporate lending into the deep freeze,
investors are tripping all over themselves to get in on infrastructure and public-private partnerships (P3s) financings.
There is actual competition to get in on long-term lending on an increasing
number of projects.
That's partly because institutions that traditionally invested in infrastructure
projects through listed companies and fixed-income instruments now consider it a
separate asset class.
