During a 30-year career, Mr. Richardson has worked on many prominent transactions, including Canada's largest successful unsolicited takeover bid, Canada's largest insolvency restructuring, Canada's largest equity offering and the contested acquisition of Canada's largest stock exchange. Prior to rejoining McCarthy Tétrault LLP in 2018, Mr. Richardson was the Senior Vice President and General Counsel (Canada) at Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce and a managing director and Board member at CIBC World Markets Inc., CIBC's principal investment banking subsidiary. Mr. Richardson also spent a year as special counsel at the Ontario Securities Commission, while on loan from McCarthy Tétrault. Riddell's practice is focused on mergers and acquisitions, joint venture and other complex commercial arrangements, carve-out transactions, and corporate and commercial law.
