to constantly update the routes it recommends, so if there is a traffic
jam, Waze will suggest a route that avoids it.
Until now, we've been in "lookout" mode as far as artificial intelligence
is concerned: we were watching what was happening and what
could be done. We were collecting as much information as possible
to try to figure it all out. We're still gathering information, of course,
but the novel coronavirus crisis is propelling us into the future of
artificial intelligence much faster than expected. With everything
that is happening, we are learning at top speed.
Annual Meeting
In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, the IQPF has decided to hold
its annual meeting virtually, on June 9. This decision was carefully
considered, and holding a virtual meeting will allow us to protect
everyone and encourage all the financial planners in Québec to
participate. We will send out more information as the date approaches.
The Congress
This year, the annual financial planning rendez-vous is scheduled to
take place in Charlevoix, at the Manoir Richelieu in La Malbaie on
September 24 and 25. Of course, we are once again offering the
opportunity to attend remotely. In light of the current circumstances,
we will delay registration, which was supposed to begin in mid-April.
We will keep you informed, and all the details will be posted on the
IQPF website.
Although it is too early to make any major changes to the event, we
are working on a variety of scenarios to ensure that we maintain the
event while making participant safety a priority and complying with
all the government's instructions about gatherings.
Changes to PDUs in
La Cible
Due to new requirements from the Autorité des marches financiers,
the attribution of professional development units (PDUs) for the
La Cible quizzes will be modified as follows: for every two-year
cycle, five issues of the magazine will offer 3 PDUs in SFPA and a
special "compliance" issue will offer 5 PDUs in SC. For the 2019–2021
professional development cycle, the special issue will be published
in October 2020.
Practically speaking, this means that you will still be able to get all
your required PDUs in SPFA and SC for a cycle by completing the La
Cible quizzes. Plus, the subscription to the quizzes is free for IQPF
affiliates!
Transition
My second term as Chair of the IQPF Board of Directors is already
coming to a close, which means that my successor will be elected
after the annual general meeting in June. I am very proud of the work
we have accomplished and the progress we have made in these two
