6 lacible | Août 2019 C H A I R ' S M E S S A G E As I write these lines, I have just been re-elected for my second term as Chair of the IQPF Board of Directors. I want to thank you for your confidence! I also want to take this opportunity to applaud and thank Hélène Carrier and Michel Lessard, who are leaving us this year after completing their third terms on the Board. With their departure, and that of Sylvain B. Tremblay, who will stay on as Past Chair, we have welcomed three new members to Board ranks: Nicole Gauron, Charles-Antoine Gohier and Hugo Lehoux. Furthermore, under our agreement with FP Canada, a CFP will now sit on the IQPF Board: we therefore welcome to the Board Aurèle Courcelles as the FP Canada representative to the IQPF. Amendment of the General Bylaws The IQPF Board took advantage of the Annual General and Special Meeting on June 11 to ratify the amendments to the General Bylaws adopted by the Board last May. In addition to a few small clarifications in the definitions, section 6.1, Makeup of the Board of Directors, was amended. Essentially, the Board will go from 17 directors, following the Annual General Meeting in 2019, to 14, after the Annual General Meeting in 2021. What's more, we will go from two public representatives to three, which will be more in line with our mission of protecting the public. The decrease in the number of directors follows the trend in governance and in professional orders to reduce the size of Boards. It also encourages members with specific types of expertise and key competencies to get involved in improving the quality and performance of our Board. Strategic Planning During my year as Chair, since we were approaching the end of the 2016-2019 strategic planning exercise, we addressed the plan for 2019-2022. It was a huge project! We took the time to step back, observe the current situation and the trends that are transforming our profession and identify our strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats… The process allowed us to determine issues, objectives and refreshed, reformulated strategic directions that are adapted to today's realities and designed to carry us forward. We'll share the outcome of our reflections with you soon. Keep an eye on your inbox! A YEAR OF BIG PROJECTS
