Sangeetha Punniyamoorthy specializes in
Intellectual Property Litigation at
DLA Piper (Canada) LLP and has ex-
perience in litigating copyright, patent
and trademark matters. She provides
strategic advice in the procurement
and enforcement of global brands in a
variety of industries, with a focus on
pharmaceuticals. Prior to attaining her
law degree, Punniyamoorthy obtained
a BSc in molecular biolog y. She has ap-
peared before the Supreme Court of
Canada twice and won both times and
she has been asked to testify in the Sen-
ate Hearings on Copyright Law Reform.
She writes for some of Canada's leading
IP publications, serves on the Canada
Amicus committee of the International
Trademarks Association and is a Fel-
low of the Intellectual Property Insti-
tute of Canada. Punniyamoorthy is on
the Advisory Board of Canadian Tamil
Professionals Association and is Direc-
tor of Girls Inc. of York Region. She is
