In Vancouver, e Honourable Christy
Clark joined Bennett Jones LLP as senior
advisor. Clark served as premier of British
Columbia from 2011 to 2017.
David Gunasekera moved to his practice
DuMoulin Black LLP where he is now as-
sociate counsel. He advises on equity financ-
ing transactions including private place-
ments and prospectus offerings.
Harper Grey LLP welcomed Drew Law-
renson as associate counsel. He has exten-
sive experience working with First Nations
and educational institutions.
DuMoulin Black LLP welcomed Dani-
elle Bensler and Garret Lee to the firm as
associates. Both practise corporate and com-
mercial law.
Associates Aneka Jiwaji (litigation), Su Ji
Yim (business law), Benjamin Hagen (real
estate) and Casey Smith (real estate) moved
their respective practices to Richards Buell
Sutton LLP.
ALBERTA CALGARY, EDMONTON
In Calgary, Craig Spurn moved to Osler,
Hoskin & Harcourt LLP as a partner in the
firm's energy practice group. As a commer-
cial lawyer, Spurn focuses on transactions
and projects in the energy sector. He has
nearly three decades of experience advising
clients on all facets of energy law.
McLennan Ross LLP welcomed Kunal
Nand who joined the firm as an associate in
Calgary. Nand now practises with the firm's
insurance and risk management, and com-
mercial litigation teams.
Robert McDonald, QC, joined Bennett
Jones LLP as partner in the firm's Edmon-
ton office. He practises intellectual property
litigation and enforcement.
MLT Aikins LLP welcomed associates
Eva Forys and Brooks Arcand-Paul to its
Edmonton office. Both practise corporate
and commercial litigation; Arcand-Paul has
expertise in First Nations' matters.
In Edmonton, DLA Piper (Canada) LLP
brought on Stephen Kroeger as an associ-
ate in its litigation, arbitration and investiga-
tions group.
ONTARIO TORONTO
In Toronto, prominent international trade
law partners Milos Barutciski, Jesse Gold-
man and Matthew Kronby moved to Bor-
den Ladner Gervais LLP, along with associ-
ates Jacob Mantle, Julia Webster and Josh
Scheinert.
Randy Sutton of Norton Rose Ful-
bright's Toronto office and Stacey Mar-
tinez of its Austin, Texas, office, were ap-
pointed joint global heads of life sciences
and health care. Sutton and Martinez are
responsible for promoting the firm's life sci-
ences and health care strategy.
John Pecman joined Fasken Martineau
DuMoulin LLP's antitrust/competition
and marketing group as a senior business ad-
visor. Pecman is the former Commissioner
of Competition at the Competition Bureau.
Fasken Martineau DuMoulin LLP wel-
comed partner Maureen Berry and associ-
ates Emily Hubling and Anna Chen to its
private client services group.
WeirFoulds LLP welcomed Raj Datt to
the firm as a partner and chair of its subro-
gation and recovery group. Rochelle Perera
joined WeirFoulds LLP as an associate in
the firm's corporate commercial group.
Arthur Renaud joined Bennett Jones
LLP as senior counsel in Toronto. He prac-
tises intellectual property litigation.
DLA Piper (Canada) LLP welcomed Ilia
Danef as a partner in the Toronto office. He
focuses on debt finance.
Kevin Emamian joined DLA Piper
(Canada) LLP as an associate in the firm's
corporate and real estate groups.
Scott McGrath joined ornton Grout
Finnigan LLP as an associate in the firm's
litigation group.
QUÉBEC MONTRÉAL
In Montréal, John Murphy has assumed
the role of National Managing Partner and
CEO at Borden Ladner Gervais LLP. Mur-
phy most recently held significant roles on
the Partnership Board and National Man-
agement Committee. He was the Manag-
ing Partner of the firm's Montréal office for
more than 11 years.
Fasken Martineau DuMoulin LLP wel-
comed partner Marie-Andrée ibault to
the real estate group in the Montréal office.
Mélanie Nguyen joined De Grandpré
Chait LLP as an associate.
In Montréal, 16 lawyers and patent agents
from intellectual property firm Goudreau
Gage Dubuc have moved to Lavery, de Billy,
L.L.P. aer the firms merged in June.
NEWFOUNDLAND AND LABRADOR
Todd Stanley, QC, joined the St. John's
office of Cox & Palmer as counsel. Stanley
is the former Deputy Minister and Deputy
Attorney General of the Department of Jus-
tice and Public Safety for the Government
of Newfoundland and Labrador.
CORRECTIONS
In the "People on the Move" entry announc-
ing Michael Beeforth joining the partner-
ship of Dentons Canada LLP (June 2018, p.
12), Beeforth's surname was misspelled.
In the entry announcing Aimee Halfyard
joining Miller omson LLP (July/August
2018, p. 12), Halfyard's first name was mis-
spelled and her title misstated. She joined
the firm as associate counsel.
