"This is Canada's must-attend safety event where delegates will challenge their thinking, enhance their effective- ness in the field and develop influential partnerships with health and safety colleagues from around the world," said CSSE president Kathy Tull and conference chair Brian Fisher-Smith in a statement. People, Purpose, Passion — the Pathway to OHS Success is the theme for 2018. National and international speakers were selected to bring their knowledge and expertise to this year's conference. Sessions are designed to expand delegates' knowledge and provide practical insights on emerging issues. Delegates will receive tools and applications that they can bring back to their workplaces to enhance their own health and safety programs. The CSSE's goal for the 2018 conference is to be the best professional development event that safety professionals will attend this year. Four powerful keynote sessions, an expanded program of nine half-day workshops and 32 concurrent sessions delivered by subject matter experts make this an excellent educational and networking opportunity. KEYNOTE SPEAKERS: Jared Keeso, the star of Letterkenny, will be sharing his story of perseverance, grit and of overcoming rejection, ambiguity and fear. In laugh-out-loud talks, Keeso takes the audience through his journey from small-town hockey player to small and big-screen superstar. Sarah McVanel will discuss how leaders and organizations can leverage the power of recognition to retain top talent and sustain healthy bottom lines. Séan McCann is best known as a founding member of the band Great Big Sea. He uses his music to help people find light in the darkness. Paul Huschilt will be playing back the key lessons, messages and highlights of the conference in an amaz- ing comic summary. Huschilt will use his sharp wit, imagination and talent as a performer to summarize the conference with comedy and song. Each session was carefully chosen to provide information, tools and resources to support delegates in all stages of their career development as leaders. Session topics range from safety leadership, training and culture to safety management systems and beyond. Tull and Fisher-Smith are encouraging safety professionals to take advantage of the opportunity to improve their skills and enhance their effectiveness by taking one or more of the nine professional development courses offered before and after the conference. The interactive and engaging nature of CSSE's Professional Development Conference attracts leading occupa- tional health and safety practitioners from around the world. The CSSE plans to deliver a top-notch program, valuable professional development opportunities and unique and engaging peer networking that delegates have come to expect year after year.
